COVID Policies and Procedures for In-Person Training
Center for Group Studies (CGS)

Meeting in-person for group psychotherapy training carries inherent risks that can be minimized, not eliminated, given that COVID-19 is a highly transmissible virus and that the local and national conditions around COVID vary unpredictably over time. To that end, this document reflects the intention on the part of the Center for Group Studies to enhance the environmental safety for the students and faculty meeting in-person for the Weekend Training Program. By participating in the WTP, students and faculty are exposing themselves to possible exposure to COVID-19. To mitigate this risk, the following guidelines are provided by those who participate in the in-person WTP.

All participants must agree to:

1.         Be respectful of students and faculty who choose to mask, voluntarily, throughout the WTP, whether such masking is mandated (or not) by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

2.       Refrain from participating in the weekend should they develop flu- or cold-like symptoms (such as congestion, fever, chills, cough, sore throat) on the way into the weekend, regardless of their COVID-19 status.

3.       Report any cold or flu-like symptoms, both the Faculty Contact Person and their process group leader, and cooperate with CGS procedures, which may involve COVID testing, masking, or ceasing participation in the weekend.

4.       Adhere to sudden modifications (as communicated by CGS) in these policies and procedures as warranted by changing local or national conditions, or guidance from the CDC or the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
