ONLINE WORKSHOP - Introduction to Resistances in Group Psychotherapy (OW10525) – 2.5 contact hours

Resistance occurs in every group, providing a great deal of information about members’ current and historic fears and their learned strategies for coping with less than perfect environments in their lives. This didactic and experiential workshop will address the types and sources of resistance in group and their usefulness in understanding the group and its members. Intervention techniques for resolving group and member resistance will be discussed. The topic of countertransference resistance will be introduced.  

Learning Objectives. Participants will be able to:

  1. Name three sources of resistance in group.

  2. Name three interventions to help resolve resistance in group.

  3. Name a method for becoming aware of and resolving countertransference resistance.
