In addition to allowing and tolerating all feelings, effective modern analysts must be able to hold the clinical frame while dealing with intense interpersonal processes in groups. At times, modern analysts will be challenged to embrace the emotional forces that brush up against our own histories. In this didactic and experiential workshop we will explore countertransference and resistances to countertransference as we discuss intersectional identities, including race, gender, social class, and language.
Learning Objectives. Participants will be able to:
Define countertransference resistance.
Describe the difference between subjective and objective countertransference.
Identify two ways to constructively engage in conversations about intersectional identities.
